Safeguarding and Compliance at Simply Supply
For the last 10 years, the team at Simply Supply have worked closely with Local Education Authorities (LEAs) and Local Authority Designated Officers for Safeguarding (LADOs) to understand and promote the safety and security of all pupils.
As an independent recruitment business, we pride ourselves on close working relationships with our customers; we understand just how important it is for schools and nurseries to trust in the staff, and service we provide.
Below we’ve outlined some of the safeguarding and compliance processes that we have in place to ensure the continued safety and security of your pupils.
Throughout your time with us as a client, you will have full access to our bespoke online portal. This platform means you are able to see the full CV profile of each of our candidates, as well as their DBS check details, all safeguarding checks, qualifications, work-related references and photograph.
Not only does this give you the knowledge you need to choose the right candidate for your role, it also means that you can make the most informed choice, based on your needs and those of your pupils.
Our Safeguarding checks include:
- Face to face Interview
- Enhanced DBS check every 12 months or after a 3-month break in work
- Three written work-related references including most recent employer
- Prohibited Teacher List Check
- Disqualification Declaration
- Comprehensive ID check & Proof of Address
- Verification of Right to Work in UK
- Verification of Qualifications
- QTS and Induction status
- Medical Questionnaire, (followed up with GP or Occupational Health if required)
As part of our Safeguarding process, it is a requirement that all of our candidates read and understand the ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ guidance and our Safeguarding Policy before they are given work opportunities.
They are also offered guidance at our registration interview as to the importance of being able to spot signs of distress or the possible mistreatment of pupils, and how to appropriately handle difficult situations that can arise in the classroom, including the follow-up stages.
We employ the services of Eric Skates (ex Hampshire LADO) on a Consultancy basis who has provided us with internal Safeguarding training. Eric has also assisted us with our Safeguarding Policy and Allegation Procedure to ensure our investigation process is both robust and fair.
During any investigation, we will also work directly with the current LADO who help us support both our clients and candidates.
In order to avoid allegations occurring we insist that all of our candidates update their Safeguarding training annually.
Audited by the REC
Here at Simply Supply, we have consistently achieved the Recruitment & Employment Confederations (REC) Audited Education Accreditation. Not only does this cover the REC Code of Professional Practice ensuring we operate best practice in areas such as customer service, staff development, diversity and client management, but we also work within the law following The Conduct of Employment Agencies and Employment Businesses Regulations 2003.
All this means that regardless of whether you have used our services before or it’s your first time, you will receive the same high standard of care, attention and professionalism throughout your time with us.
The Crown Commercial Service
In conjunction with the Department for Education, the Crown Commercial Service (CSS) Framework is a nationwide tendered framework which ensures that the processes and policies for safeguarding pupils and candidates are upheld and that we maintain the highest standard of service and value possible in the education recruitment sector.
Simply Supply has been awarded a place on the CCS Framework which is called Supply Teachers and Temporary Staff in Educational Establishments, this means that we continue to adhere to the government standards in terms of value for money, service levels and stringent pre-employment checking process for all temporary workers.
At the same time, this contract ensures that customers predicting to spend over £181,300 over a 4 year period on temporary workers still adhere to the EU Procurement Regulations by using the DfE’s recommended procurement option.
The investment we make in our Consultants is second-to-none. We understand that their continued development will not only help them in their future careers, but it will also benefit you.
Throughout the duration of their training, they will continue to develop “best practices”, whilst ensuring that your exact needs and requirements are met.
In summary, the safeguarding and compliance policies we have in place are key to the continued success of our business. The safety, security and wellbeing of pupils and staff alike are always at the forefront of our minds.
