Matthew Collins and Emma Collins started Simply Supply in 2009. Emma, along with our first employee Janet started to build the business from a small rented office in Portchester. It was so quiet in the office then, we could hear the kettle boiling! No bookings, no enquires, nothing except our own Mothers popping their heads in the door wondering what on earth was to become of us and secretly thinking we were crazy!
Matt had already developed the website and the database, and continued supporting all technology within the business. Matt managed the back-office payroll, invoicing and accounts whilst Emma was managing front-office sales and operations, and alongside Janet they were constantly advertising, recruiting, and vetting potential candidates, alongside making many phone calls and visits to develop relationships with local schools and nurseries.
By 2010 the business had generated enough revenue to support a third Consultant and we then welcomed Tracy Harrison (now our Sales Director), to the team. It was great to have Tracy on board as she had worked with Emma for many years previously, and Emma knew she was a skilled and talented recruiter with the type of customer care that we value. Tracy again boosted the business forward. This was a busy time for Simply Supply as we became very successful in a fairly short space of time. This meant that Emma eventually had to give up working as a Consultant to focus more on management. We managed to become an approved supplier to Hampshire County Council around this time, which allowed us to develop and grow even further.
Over the next few years we steadily increased our staff numbers by adding consultants, administrators and resourcers. By 2017 we had 13 staff and have specialist divisions for Primary, Secondary, SEN and Nursery. Our philosophy from the start was to keep things as simple as possible for our clients and candidates while constantly looking to do things a little bit differently from our competitors. We embraced technology to achieve this but always put personal customer service at the very top of our priorities.
Moving forward, we are constantly improving our technology to support our clients in making bookings, this can be done quickly and effectively online or by phone. Our online service is now one of the best in the industry allowing Schools and Nurseries to make bookings and select preferred candidates from an availability search list that normally only our Consultants can see, giving control of the booking process to our clients. We hope that this will give greater customer satisfaction, knowing that preferred candidates can be booked directly and in advance.
We also have all payroll, timesheet and invoice information online for quick efficient access for our clients. Most importantly our clients can access all safeguarding information for every candidate booked to ensure the person who turns up at school is who was booked AND has been thoroughly vetted. The security of the children in their care is paramount to us, along with providing an inspirational and contentious agency worker. We have a long list of ideas to further improve our service and we will continually develop where we feel it benefits our customers.
Of course, our fabulous online technology can never take away the importance of that personal relationship we develop with all our customers. In terms of customer service, our values are older fashioned and are based at the core of our business, which is to provide excellent personal service, ensuring our business is always recommended.
Nothing is perfect so we also believe in dealing with any complaints or allegations quickly and effectively to ensure that all parties are satisfied that they have been dealt with fairly and ethically. We firmly believe in the importance of that personal touch so that our customers know the Consultants here in the office, and not only that, but like and trust them also.
